"Welcome to Adventure Van Life! Join us as we explore breath-taking destinations, share tips for van living, and inspire your own adventures on the open road. Hit subscribe and let’s embark on this journey together!" Get ready to explore the Arctic Circle in style with this epic travel video! From dog sledding to seeing the Northern Lights, this trip has it all. Do you have a product you would like us to test out in the Arctic Circle or Morocco?
We plan to leave on the 1st of January and head through the Eurotunnel. Our first stop will be Breskens in the Netherlands and then on to the start of the famous E6 in Norway.
We will make our way through Norway and Finland and our end destination is Nordkapp which is a distance of some 2322 miles or 3737 kilometres.
We will be doing weekly updates on YouTube so make sure to subscribe for videos. Our first YouTube video will be a full van tour of the AdventureVanLife custom-made camper and that's going to be released on the 1st of November.
I don't think I've ever recommended a company as much as I'm going to with Combe Valley Campers!
Right from the word go, Leigh understood exactly what we were trying to achieve with this build. Our communication with his team has been easy, we received daily video updates and a constant stream of emails and WhatsApp messages. He took the time to listen to our requirements but also made his own recommendations, which further enhanced the end product.
Whether you are looking for a day camper, a weekender, a T5/T6 or a custom build contact Leigh and his team, you truly won't regret it.
When designing and creating our demo van, we reverse engineered the fact that our first trip is going to be a 2-month trip to The Arctic Circle where we will be experiencing temperatures as low as -40. We will then be driving through Europe, down to Gibraltar and across to Morocco, where temperatures could soar as high as 50 degrees!
Each aspect of the van has been designed to meet the rigours of extreme environments yet still maintain comfortable temperatures, smooth Wi-fi and communications, sufficient battery power and the ability to charge, eliminating the need for gas.
We want to spend a lot of time off grid and therefore we have considered storage capacity, security for the van (including us), water and spares for the van.
The van is fitted with a 4kW Autoterm Air diesel heater as the main source of heating with the comfort controller, which is programmable and also has a built-in thermostat.
Autoterm diesel heaters are extremely reliable and come with a 3-year warranty. However, given the extreme temperatures we will be experiencing in the Arctic, we will be fitting a second heater, the Autoterm 2kW which will be powered by separate batteries to the main heater.
The Mercedes V6 3 litre engine will have an engine pre heater, the Autoterm Flow 5kW. This will be set on a thermostat to automatically start when temperatures reach -5, this will also be left on permanently to reduce wear on the engine. The Autoterm Flow 5kW will also be used to produce hot water via a SureCal single coil horizontal mounted 20 litre calorifier tank.
The van will be insulated and soundproofed with the amazing products from Dodo Mat. They have been very kind in sponsoring this part of the build. Click here for more information on their products.
For the main leisure batteries we have gone with 2 X FOGSTAR DRIFT PRO 12V 460Ah. We chose these batteries for the premium build quality, exceptional performance and durability.
All FOGSTAR DRIFT batteries come with heating, allowing you to charge your batteries in temperatures as low as -20. We will also be running heating into the battery area for when temperatures go below -20. They allow easy integration with the Victron Cerbo GX via a CAN port on the battery. They also come with a 10-year warranty and a free Bluetooth app.
We love to be miles from anything, but we also like to feel safe.
Choosing VanGuardian was a no-brainer because we love how easy the product is to install and also how the product works. Simple yet effective.
We have the alarm fitted to every door along with a panic alarm button fitted next to the bed.
The best part is the price, as a basic kit starts from only £269 and a full kit for a motorhome is £469. The panic button is an extra £55, so well worth it for the peace of mind.
We went for the SavveyVan control panel as we like how customisable it is. The price is very competitive and its plug and play with an east to use interface.

Trying out the INSTA 360 camera, 16 Pro Max and 2 different DJI drones. We went to pick my son up near Winchester and took some footage on the way. So much to learn in such a short time.
